Hyperopia

Hyperopia, commonly known as farsightedness, is caused by the eyeball being shorter than normal or the cornea having a flat curvature, leading to difficulties in focusing on nearby objects. It can be treated with prescription glasses and contact lenses.

Astigmatism

Astigmatism is a refractive error caused by the cornea or lens of the eye being irregularly shaped, leading to blurred or distorted vision. Eyeglasses and toric lenses can correct it.

Presbyopia

Presbyopia, or age-related farsightedness, affects people from age 40 upwards. Presbyopia makes it challenging to read small print or focus on nearby objects and can be easily corrected with prescription eyeglasses such as bifocals or multifocals and contact lenses.

Myopia

Myopia, or nearsightedness, causes distant objects to appear blurry while nearby objects remain clear. Much like other refractive errors, it can be corrected using prescription glasses and contact lenses. Orthokeratology lenses and multifocals can also be used to slow its progression in kids and teens.

Glaucoma

Glaucoma describes a group of progressive eye diseases that are caused by increased inner-eye pressure which damages the optic nerve and can lead to permanent vision loss if left untreated. The most common types are open-angle glaucoma and angle-closure glaucoma.

Our eye doctors use advanced diagnostic techniques to detect glaucoma in its early stages before significant vision loss occurs.

Cataracts

Cataracts are caused by the body’s aging process which results in the eye’s natural lens becoming cloudy. Blurred vision, light sensitivity and difficulty seeing at night are common symptoms of cataracts. We offer cataract co-management to ensure optimal results for patients after cataract surgery.

Macular Degeneration

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a progressive eye disease that damages the central part of the retina, the macula, which often leads to a gradual loss of sharp, central vision. There are two types of AMD: wet and dry, with wet AMD being more severe as it causes tiny blood vessels to leak fluid and blood into the macula, resulting in rapid vision loss if left untreated. Common symptoms of AMD include dark spots in your central vision, blurry vision, and difficulty recognizing faces or reading fine print. Treatments range from anti-VEGF injections for wet AMD, and lifestyle modifications, nutritional support, and monitoring for dry AMD.
